What Is the Best Electric Guitar for the Money?

Hi, this Christmas i'm going to ask for money, then my birthday is a month later and i'll get money for that too.

I get around 300 for Christmas, and around 200 for my birthday.

So what is the best guitar and amp that I could afford for 500 dollars total?

Thanks!

Tyler.

If, you are already a player and have been at it for a year or so, then it is time to move up.

But as a beginner or only at it for a few months, your price range is about right to start.

You have to go and try them out if you have been a player for sometime, or, take someone with you who is already into guitar and with some experience to help you make the choice. Think of comfort over performance or features to begin with. Most electrics will do just as well through the amps anyway. You can always choose later for better pickups (swap) if needed, but not expected.

Here are a number of solid brands (in your price range) to look for who offer up some good models: Cort (don’t laugh, they make numerous models for other brands) Dean; Epiphone; Fender (please, not the Squier model); Gibson (lower end); Godin; Ibanez; Samick (also make models for other companies); Washburn; and of course, Yamaha.

id look into maybe a B.C. Rich or Ibanez for guitars, i got a decent BC rich for around $200
if youre not into metal try a fender, theyre classic

and i usually play my roland cube 40 which goes for around $200 unless u try ebay, amazon or get a used one
its not a huge amp but its got power and some great sounds. You crank that thing up and its got some volume, especially if your playing through a effect box turned all the way up

Probably a used Fender strat, not a Squier.
    Or an Agile Les Paul
    Or an Ibanez RG

I would get a cheap $80 amp and then save up for another one next year, after you learn how to play the instrument.

Some of the best guitars for that money would be,an Epiphone,Jackson JS32RT Dinky, Gibson melody maker, cant go wrong with a fender standard telecaster.

  6. Guitar collector says:

I strongly recommend that you get a used guitar off of craigslist. Most of the time they’re in very good to new condition and you can end up paying half of what you would have to pay at guitar center. list of a few guitars I have owned- Schecter c-1 hellraiser (guitar center-$850.00+tax, craigslist-$400.00 no tax), ESP ltd ec-1000 (guitarcenter- $900+ and tax, craigslist-$400-$500 depending on condition), schecter c-1+ (guitar center-$600-$700, craigslist- $350), ibanez rg7321 7 string (guitarcenter-$400, craigslist-$200). Lots of times the prices people are asking aren’t set in stone and they will take less than the posted price. I’ve made a living for 17 years doing nothing but buying and reselling on craigslist and ebay. As far as amps go, you can find a line 6 spider 4 15 watt amp with many sound effects that will make your guitar create about as many sounds as you could wany for $40-$70.
