I think the sound is good but lack of identity.
sweet-ass guitar, dude!
I have seen many good reviews from Paul, this is definitely the worst.
1. These guitars lack character in sound, sounds falt and too modern almost like a synth guitar
2. No it doesn’t handle distortion sounds as it is hollow body, it is simple physics3.
3. the guitar is trying to sound like 3-4 other guitars and a big failure, Just like taylor T5
ummm plenty of hollow body’s handle distortion just fine, i’m not sure what you are smoking, some may have more feedback but many many hollow bodies sound amazing with distortion
I agree It lacks personality. It sounds like many guitars. I own a Johnson semihollow Grooveyard it has a great sound with distortion.
Many Les Pauls have a hollowed body. How do they handle distrotion? Don’t get stuck with stereotypes.
how much is it?
about $ 2 500.00
stick to amps vox
To draw conclusions about the sound quality (good or bad) from a low quality youtube video is a bit hazardous, isn’t it? At most if it was an A-B comparison… Here we don’t even know which amp he is using.
this dude needs to prepare a script or read off a prompter or something
traditionally semi hollow guitars from gibson like the 335 are made out of maple which is very bright sounding and theyre excellent for rock… check out eric johnson playing red house
I prefer by far old vox guitars.
@musimundo2008
Me too.The old white octagonal shape vox was awesome.
dimarzio copied seymour duncan…
its also hollow which makes it darker…….
paul u got the best job ever!
@YonOtto And didn’t he play with semi hollows in that era too?
@kevin957 The custom Dimarzio’s on the Vox actually were developed at about the same time as the Duncans…..but the Dimarzios are humbucking in all 3 positions…..the Duncans are humbucking only in the humbucker position, not in the P-90 or single coil positions.
@cc22079 interesting thing about personality…….some guitars like Strats have tons of it……and occationally , especially in high gain situations I do not want the Strat personality to shine through…….and that in that tiype of situation, a guitar of lesser “personality” might be better……ie a Les Paul (not runing it down, just saying that to me at least , I can identify a Strat on a recording……but many 2 humbucker guitars sound very similar…different strokes for different folks
@rhykko77 if that was true then why didn’t they release these NEW pickups for the public when Seymour Duncan did?
@kevin957 Actually, I contacted DiMarzio at that time asking them if I could buy the pickups from them……..they indicated that the pickups were built for Vox, and as part of their agreement, that they would not be selling them except thru Vox “at this time” .
@rhykko77 and why now are these vox guitars hitting stores this year? when seymour duncans p rails hit stores years ago?
@kevin957 The original Virages have been out for at least 2 years,Maybe you aree refering to the new models of that family which were released more recently …… If they released the original at least 2 years ago, that meant that Dimarzio must have been working on the pickups somewhat before that……….maybe Vox even went to Both Duncan AND Dimarzio, and asked them both to submit a design.
@winterlandboy Yes, i have an ultrasonic. The looks and sound are amazing. It features on board effects! Repeater, distortion, treble/bass booster, hand wah and e-tuner! Crrrrrrrrrrrrrazy!
Cheers!
