What the fookin hell is this? Some kind of non-profit organization? You need a TELECASTER for this particular number!
@StompingRabbits I don’t think the guitar really matters. It is about the notes. Why do you insist on the guitar model for this song?
Telecasters have distinctive tones do they not? The reason I would insist on a tele for this particular song is that the tele “ashtray” makes a unique sound on the muted palm strokes that are played in this song. Have you not noticed that Marty here has pretty much covered the entire song but conspicuously omitted the muted strokes? Edge has dozens of guitars, I’ve seen him use a plethora of Telecasters on this in videos and he’s never played it with one of his Gibson pieces has he?
@rjwatsoniii – Bye the way, don’t read any further into this because I’m not knocking Marty’s lesson. I’m just pointing out the fact that different guitars make different tones. That clunky metallic tone produced by palm muting a Tele isn’t well reproduced on an SG. “The Edge” probably owns hundreds of guitars, if you can find one video of him playing this song on anything else by all means pass it along! I don’t want another fiasco like the Santana one being created by one of my comments!
@StompingRabbits Hey bro. I own a telecaster and a strat and it really doesn’t matter which you use. The telecaster produces a nice twang, but it really doesn’t matter.
@the70z – I didn’t say that it matters for the purpose of study but there are subtle differences. I own a pair of dungarees and a 3 piece suit but I don’t wear the dungarees to wedding receptions and it’s not because it doesn’t matter it’s because it’s not appropriate. Marty plays a Tele in other videos and you’ll never see Edge playing one of his many Gibsons on this piece either. Technically does it matter? Of course not, but it’s like giving a Hendrix lesson with a Gretsch.
@the70z – I didn’t say it matters for the sake of study but it’s not like Marty here hasn’t got access to a Tele, he plays one in other videos doesn’t he? Technically you could practice Hendrix riffs on a Gretsch 6120 but you’re going to look like a dork doing it. Edge has God only knows how many guitars, he’s notorious for gear, with that said you would be hard pressed to find a single incidence of his playing this song on anything else but a tele!
that pickguard looks like my kitchen tables pattern lol
thanks for the tut
this was easier than the music he taught
WOOP WOOP awesome lesson think it’ll help me a lot and if not it’s just cause of me
Once again … THANKS MARTY <3
