Too Old to Learn Electric Guitar?
I'm 24 and I've always wanted to learn, but never got around to it. I really enjoy music and mostly just want to play for myself and not be in a band or anything.
Can anyone suggest a good guitar. Also I'd kind of like to teach myself... is there a good way to go about this? Any books?

my guitar teacher said he has a guy that is 49 that comes in for lessons. he has always wanted to learn how to play and now he does
uhmm about teaching urself.. u can do taht but id recommend at least for the basics taht you find a guitar teacher, u can get 1 for like 15-20$ for 30 min lessons once a week. it will help you tremendously when you first start out. then if you want to work on your own u can, or keep taking lessons.
if u want a good electric guitar.. id recommend:
for rock/metal songs: Ibanez RG120 or Ibanez GSA60
for blues/country/rock:fender squier

Nobody is too old to learn electric guitar. In fact, there are crash courses out there that teach you the basic chords in a single day!
It is never too late to start playing an instrument.
As for the guitar you pick, I would recommend an acoustic no more than $350. When you get better you should get a better guitar.
If you are able to get lessons from a nearby guitar place, then do that. If you can’t, then I would suggest Learn and Master Guitar. I am learning from that program and it works. Basically it is a book and a bunch of dvds that instruct you how to play guitar.
Nonetheless practice everyday and you will be progressing in no time.

It’s never too late to learn to play a musical instrument. If you’re interested in electric guitar, buy one and start. (Don’t believe anyone who tells you that you need to start on acoustic. You can learn just as well on electric.)
Get lessons. Forget about trying to learn from books or from DVDs. It’s much easier to be successful with a professional helping you. Good luck.
