Should I Learn on Acoustic or Electric Guitar?
my parents are signing me up for guitar lessons and i have the option of learning on the electric guitar i have, or to buy an acoustic and to learn on that. i've been told electric is easier. is that true? and if so, would you recommend that i start on electric? or do you think i should take acoustic?

You should learn on acoustic. It strengthens your fingers more. Your music abilities will also be better because you must play it right to achieve a pleasant sound. Electric will sound ok even if you are not playing the notes correctly.
i think you should learn both
both
electric man!!!
All guitars are fairly similar anyway, once you learn one its easy to shift to another.
I think electric is easier and since you allready have one you might aswell
Electric guitar is easier.
there the same but if you have small hands like me you should play electric because acoustic strings are thicker and tough on your hands. but i started with acoustic and now electric is really easy for me to play.
get an acoustic and learn both
If you truly want to learn to play the guitar then I suggest getting an acoustic. If you’re kind of "iffy" then don’t waste money and stick with your electric.
both. but you should start on electric. i started on electric and it was easier for me cause its easier to learn with the recognizable sounds it makes and stuff. plus its waaaay more fun.
it depends on ur style
if ur a rocker go for the electric one it sounds cooler
but if u like a mellow tone pick the acoustic
either way it is as easy as u make it
U know, a lot of people say that its easier to learn on electric, bc you dont have to push the strings down as hard as you do with an acoustic.
I however find an acoustic waay easier than electric.
My roommate took lessons for a short time and her instructor had her buy an acoustic..
In my opinion, I think you should get an acoustic, but you should go to the guitar store and try them out, see which one you feel more comfortable with.
If you already have an electric use that, my boyfriend learnt on electric then bought an acoustic
ok I went through the same thing about 1 year ago, and I went with electric and yes it is easier to start with but, they are both very similar, about the only difference is that with electric you don’t have to press on the strings as hard. but it up to you, you may want to go acoustic because that the more to the style of musicyou wan tot play.
Hope this helps
If I had this chance I would want to learn to play an acoustic guitar!! Thats because I enjoy the sounds of it better than electric. Both are cool though. I say if you already have an electric guitar..go with it to make sure you even like playing…then buy the acoustic later.
Electric can be harder since there are leads and other techniques that are harder, but acoustic you don’t use a pick so it is harder to switch to a pick or from a pick, etc.
Many people say electric is easier this is only because an acoustic neck is thicker therefore harder to grip, and also electrics often have bigger cutaways compared to some acoustics which don’t have a cutaway, which means it provides better playability which is why many people prefer electrics, but really its not whether its hard or not its want you want, who influences you? What genres do you like? If your favourite band has a ripping guitar solo on electric then learn electric, but if your favourite artist is a singer/songwriter that plays an acoustic learn an acoustic, its best to learn whatever you feel comfortable with. Saying that it can also be useful to learn both as I did, if playing both is the road you want to go down then start on acoustic. Hope this helps.

Good website for beginners. Gives good tips on how to start, what type to buy, accessories, etc. They say that a classical guitar is the best to start on because it has lighter strings and you’ll be lest likely to get frustrated and give up.
Random and Alex are both right. The single most important factor in success in learning the guitar is to stay motivated and keep at it. Consider the music you want to be able to play and see what guitar is most appropriate for that music. Either way is fine just as long as playing the guitar makes you happy and keeps you practicing and learning.
While electric guitar might be easier to learn how to play at first, because you can press the strings easier, etc., I think you’ll get more mileage if you start out on acoustic guitar first.
It’s much easier to make a switch from acoustic to electric later on than electric to acoustic.
Start on ACOUSTIC!
It will give you a better foundation for musicality, technique, etc. After a while you can switch to electric. If you start out on electric, it’s easier, but it’s harder to switch to acoustic and you might pick up bad habits that matter for acoustic but not electric.
