Should I Learn Guitar by Myself or Get Lessons?
I just got an electric guitar. and i was wondering if i should get lessons weekly or teach myself?

I would say both
Teach yourself and get lessons. Getting lessons , lets you get 4 ears on a subject. Sometimes you cant understand something and a experienced player will point it out and make it perfectly clear. I would use both.
Maybe go to lessons for a month or 2 and then not go for a month or 2

teach yourself, it is more fun
do both. Guitar players who teach themselves tend not to be the best.(some are though) Getting lessons are good since you’ll get supervised n your playing and you’ll learn something. For example, I couldn’t do a pinch harmonic without from help of a teacher. But stay in mind of cost and distance of place. Get lessons once every week and teach yourself during the rest of the week so next your teacher can observe and tell you how to do something easier. For proof, I know this one guy who self taught(who played 7 years or so) and couldn’t perform a solo that i asked him to do. Me doing both was eventually able to do it aside from playing less than a year.
Get lessons, but once you’re at a pretty good level try and do things (like figure out songs) on your own-even though you will be learning songs you want to learn at lessons, you might want to learn a song that wasn’t included on the CD of songs you gave your teacher. Read up on things too. I tried teaching myself and it was tough, and boring.
Why do all of the hard work of trying to find things to learn when you can have an experienced-and perhaps professional-musician do all of the hard work for you? The teacher does the work, while you get to have fun (most of the time).
I would say get lessons. A lot of people just teach themselves and they do OKAY but their abilities are limited and they develop bad habits. If you really want to be like those rock star people then go ahead and teach yourself but if you really want to be a good, professional (?) REAL musician then get lessons. To be honest, I don’t like the people who just learn a few chords on the piano or guitar and consider themselves musicians. I also hate it when they learn from tabs and consider them musicians. That’s what I think. Sorry if I offended anyone.
