Yes, you can switch later when you have the funds to buy an electric guitar and amp. Right now you will be learning all the basics anyways. Have fun!
If you want to play electric guitar, you should get an electric guitar and teach yourself to play the music you like. Classical guitar is a wonderful thing but if you don’t want to learn it, you shouldn’t think that it will necessarily help you to be a better electric player. The difference between classical guitar and rock is hard to over-emphasise.
If you don’t want to spend money on an electric guitar – well, tough. You will be stuck learning to play a kind of music that you don’t want to be able to play, which unless you are incredibly broad-minded and highly motivated will turn out to be a colossal waste of your time.
Classical music contains all the riffs you find in modern rock by the electric but dont stop those lessons, they could be the root of what makes you famous. Most of all practice
Before you can make a guitar, electric or not, REALLY talk, you have to know what you are doing, there is a lot to learn that your classical guitar is absolutley fine for. In time you will want to switch over, but for the time being, just learn as much as you can.
