@ GerMaj7th
i think its some stuff he played live some time ago (look his solo live in tokio ’99) mixed with pachelbels canon arpegios, and maybe something from scarified

@spray32
According to various people who tracked this down — that infamous “Tokyo 99″ solo, the one which WMG disabled for YouTube, is actually “Tokyo 91″.
This clinic was filmed in 1995, so stuff from 1999 could not be in it. Paul’s exceptionally skilled on the guitar, and incredibly nice, but he has not yet perfected time travel!
i love how he says arpeggios are impossible than just destroys every 12 year old’s dream
String Skipping > Sweep Picking
Sounds like he’s playing the cord progression from pachelbel’s canon on star dust, or crack! Sounds cool as hell though!!!
Yes he’s playing the chord progression from Pachelbel’s canon but he plays in E major. Search for “sequenced string skipping paul gilbert” where he plays the whole progression. :-]
I love the single clap at the end.
omg i love the last lil lick!!!!! any one know where i can get tabs?
wow, he didnt talk about sweeping much at all, thanks paul
CANON
haha i love how it seems that he only got one single clap for applause at the end of the video cause it cuts out before it kicks in.
PG is seriously amazing, he will always be a guitar god!
hell yeh
oh my god….es dios este tipo….esos arpegios q se hace…con tanta onda…gracia y talento…..idolo
sting skipping is always more difficult than sweep picking..
@Sigelious It’s on power tabs- it’s from the end of I Understand Completely. It’s much faster on there as he artificially sped it up. Sounds great here
love the final riff, makes my crazy, what paul’s song is???
pause at 0:52 rofl at face w/ blank eyes
he’s very modest about his sweeping. He sounds brilliant and flawlessly clean, especially in recent years. His playing just keeps getting better. Paul has definately been the #1 influence on my playing. along with Vinnie Moore, Tony “Mac”, & Yngwie, among others. I developed my sweeping in a sort of unconventional way, but it worked really well for me…It’s now quite effortless for me to get accurate, crisp, and clean sweeps. I’m thinking of posting an instructional. I think ppl could benefit.
@jennfeather
could i get the tabs as well? if you have them
@JordanFlayer : The tab for (at least some of) Arps In D, and a bunch of other stuff, is in the free Paul Gilbert VIP book which I put together – it is on my website at metalichicka (dot) wordpress (dot) com under Educational.
just that single clap at the end made me laugh. haha.
@jennfeather Yeah the “Tokyo ’99″ is actually from a Mr. Big show in ’91 at the Bodukan I think. Eric Martin (Mr. Big’s singer) introduces him at the beginning. Paul wasn’t even with Mr. Big anymore in ’99.
@jasonism123 that depends bro
he don’t like that much perform sweep but, it’s ok because at string skipping, he is the best!!!
havent read the tab but is the part from 1:18 until the end on there?
Please inform me it worked right? I dont need to sumit it once more if i tend not to have to! Either the webpage glitced out or i am an idiot, the second choice doesnt surprise me lol. thanks for a terrific web site!
