@leoseanster now this is technically true, however also try substatuting any natural minor scale with a minor mode, such as phyrigan and dorian, if you dont stay on the altered tones you can get the dorain and phyrigan sound but not any dissonant notes, try F# dorian and F# Phygian
@Phailure365 Yes, definitely not saying that you are wrong, and it does depend on what kind of a flavour you are going for. But, diatonically speaking, where you want every note to ‘fit’, you need to know the key. Now all these jazz cats will tell you different, e.g. play C7 and omg use C dorian plz…but the concept I’m referring to is that of completely staying within a given key…but yes, you are correct nonetheless.
