Learn How to Play Blues Guitar – Doc Watson’s Deep River Blues – Lesson #2
Free Robert Johnson Lesson youtunerecords.com Learn how to play acoustic blues guitar www.play-blues-guitar.eu - Preview Jim's Complete Course ' Acoustic Blues Guitar Lessons' This online blues guitar lesson featuring Deep River Blues by Doc Watson is the second in the series (maybe the last - we'll see!) Anyone serious about learning how to play blues guitar should take a look at the Travis style of picking and incorporate it into their playing, even they want to play the blues in a different style. Here, we take a look at those 'fiddly bits' that appear in Doc's rendition of Deep River. These are the little things that suddenly appear and blow us away with their magic, such as double thumb beats and added syncopation with thumb combination strokes. It's even more interesting when you consider that Doc (like other great masters such as Gary Davis, Broonzy,Hopkins) used just one finger on his picking hand to achieve these results. I hope you enjoy it - come back again! The full range of lessons available show how to play blues guitar in various styles, such as delta blues (Robert Johnson), Texas blues (Lightnin' Hopkins), Chicago swing blues (Big Bill Broonzy), ragtime blues (Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller, Willie Walker) , Carolina blues (Floyd Council, Pink Anderson, Scrapper Blackwell), bottleneck and open tunings.

Great lesson thank you. Very clear and good idea to make two version of each showing left hand and right hand separetely. I did not find a link below though lol.
Oops! I’ll add the link now. Thanks, Jim
terrific…..as usual
Oh what a great bluesman you are!!.My compliments! Thank you for your lesson:Much appreciate!!
Franco from Italy.
This is great and will keep me busy for quite a while. The way you use close ups and slow downs is really helpfull. Else it would be to difficult. While playin these chops Doc was singing too. Out of sight..
Great stuff – get a feeling it’ll be a long time before I can even think about attempting something like that though lol! That said, you do a great job of making the impossible seem possible in only one lifetime as opposed to several…
Thx a lot for sharing. ***** Best regards from Germ’y
Dude, you make me sick! I love this stuff and wish I could do it. Guess I’d better put in some shed time. You never fail to amaze me.
Cheers… I know you sell CD’s… give us the link.
Hi,
Thanks – hope you feel better soon. Just finishing an all-original album soon – will post it on the Tube.
Thanks very much for you comment – and every one else as well.
Cheers
Jim
I feel a little better now, that I’ve come to grips with my station in life, knowing I suck.
I want to buy your stuff to listen to…. I know you sell CD’s… I’ve seen it somewhere. What is that link, or can’t you post it here?? email me, otherwise. Also, do you capo up on the first fret for the voicing/key, why not just play it in E? (curious)
Do you tour?
Capo on 1st fret – don’t know why. I think its’ a habit I got into after some time playing cheap guitars. Also, I can’t reach some high notes with my voice, so I can tune down a fret and remove the capo to sing a bit more comfortably. Also, the strings bend a little easier.
Great!
Thx for sharing!
