Is It Hard to Learn to the Guitar if It’s an Electric?
A few months ago I got an electric guitar because I really wanted to learn to play. I still haven't tried practicing because my friend says it's hard to learn if it's not tuned. I got it tuned a few days ago and I'm preparing myself to play, but I have a few questions.
Is it harder to learn to play with an electric?
Do I need a teacher to teach me how to play, or can I learn myself with buying lesson books and things like that?

It’s the same as playing an acoustic unless you want to use a whammy bar too. It’s harder playing by ear than it is with a book or a teacher. I got an electric about 2 years ago for Christmas and still haven’t learned but one chord. But now I have a book that really tells me how to play (before my dad was trying to tell me how but he’s a horrible explainer) and I think I’m going to actually sit down and learn.

It’s the same as a accoustic. You do NOT need a teacher. I taught myself to play, and heck, I’m only 12. I got my electric guitar a few months ago, and I can play one by Metallica. You can teach yourself if you practice and put your mind to it.
