Your probably going to learn basic notes and maybe if your lucky some basic chord structures. You will be taught the parts of the guitar, depending upon your teacher. You will also be taught how to do standard tuning on your guitar.
You should most definitely bring your guitar unless your teacher has specifically stated otherwise.
How long it takes depends upon your ability to learn as well as your want and desire to learn. If you practice everyday and are very constant about your desire you’ll notice improvements within a month, and be able to start tinkering around and have a simple guitar knowledge within 6 months. I had a friend who did nothing but play for 6 months straight for hours and hours on end every day. I had played for 6 years longer then him, he got better because he practiced harder.
You tell them whatever you want to learn. If you have a specific style they will cater to it and help you. But for the first month or two I would seriously just tell them where you want to go but let them be the one to lead you there.
It is way better to have that one on one to help you understand questions you might not be able to get answers to or understand the answers for. BUT! Online tutorials will be a great supplement to help you better yourself as a guitar player.
Best of luck and welcome to the world of guitar! Rock on!
Easy there, young grasshopper.
What you’re probably going to learn first is scales, and then move on to learning how to read music and so and so.
Yes, you should bring your guitar, and private lessons are better than online.
You should’ve started with an acoustic, but you’ll be fine.
Good luck and never give up!
