Ibanez Acoustic Electric Guitar Amps

I started playing guitar a year ago. I want to change from acoustic to electric I need an amplifier. I have plans to buy an Ibanez electric bass. My brother has an Ibanez electric guitar and an amp that old used with it. Does this work with my low or is a silly question?
It will work until it is too difficult and you turn the bass in the equalizer. It does not sound so great. Through the speakers you have, the more likely it is. I just want to get up and low amplifier. You could get a cheap Peavey a few hundred.
