I Want to Learn to Play Electric Guitar?
Okay, I have tons of questions.
First, I was told I could learn to play electric or acoustic first, but I should start with acoustic because it's harder. Do you think it would be a good idea to rent an acoustic guitar while taking lessons, then, as I get better, buy an electric?
Also, is there any online stores that sell decently priced guitars?
I've really been interested in it lately after hearing some 80's rock music. I know it would take a while for me to be even HALF as good, but I like the sound of it. I'm a thirteen year old girl, and I was wondering if it was too late to start learning? I mean, not too late, but will it be harder now that I'm older?
Do you like guitar, and do you think it's worth the time?
And how much do guitar lessons usually go for per lesson/hour?
Any feedback, tips, ideas, or experience stories would be great.
Thankyous in Advance!(:

US $19.95

Yes go for acoustic first if u want because it will help ur thump out on electric guitar so u can go faster. U should probably buy the acoustic first then the electric after because that way u are confident with the acoustic and ready to move on to the electric after a while, plus u cant play a electric around a camp fire with ur friends
. U can check out longandmquade.com very good prices trust me. Its never to late to learn an instrumenti know like 7
. Personally when i’m older i want to beacome a guitar legend u may see me bigger than jimi hendrix
. Its worth ur time trust me, i play for atleat 4-5 hours a day for the last 2 years been playing for 7 years (guitar).
ADVICE:
- U may complain about ur fingers hurting and it feels like needles on ur finger tips but after a while u get over it and u get hard finger tips
- Ask a private teacher to teach u theory cuz if u dont know it after a while u would probably quite (happened to alot friends) beacause when u start u get overwelmed of playing songs u like and u realise u cant play other stuff and quite, u can always learn stuff u like on the side (i’m going for my final royal conservatory of music exam so ya
- have fun and dont give up
Heres a video of me playing stairway to heaven by led zeppelin

Listen to the whole song or just the solo that starts at the 6 minute mark

ok. totally learn acoustic first. especially if you more serious about electric
.
and no! its not to late, or harder. im 14 and i learned when i was 13. its easier because your smarter then you were as opposed to learning when your 7 and dont have common sence. its worth the time, i love guitar. and lessons depend on the teahcer, but i’d save money if i were you and teach yourself
Wow you sound pretty keen.
I taught myself (tab and Internet) and only started at 24, so it’s not too late, I reckon you are about perfect age, probably go to a guitar shop, they will have details of instructors or may do lessons themselves. You can also check if your hands are big enough for a full size guitar, or if you would be better with a 3/4 size.
Learner acoustics are pretty cheap to buy, so I would say to buy one £50 ish, to practice on, and save for an electric as you learn. Good luck
A cheap electric will be easier to play than a cheap acoustic. Musicians Friend is where i get all of my gear. I wish I had started playing when I was 13. It worth putting time into I have never heard someone say they wished they never learned.
Hi i’m 12 and also a girl. I’m learning electric and have been going for 2 months to guitar. Yes i agree it is worth the money and time but it’s not the easiest thing in the world and its not the hardest. I have an acoustic but it’s more for decoration than playing but i love guitar and even though i play electric and its pretty much the same thing accept it’s a big difference in sound. I got mine from guitar center and i love it. As i get more advanced i will get an expensive one. I would wait until you know you’re good at accoustic then try electric you never know it could be fun. You can get one from walmart even though i prefer guitar shops and im not talking major expensive but if u can get a cheap one that can play then go with that. If you go online that’s fine but i prefer checking it in stores to make sure it sounds ok cause if it doesnt ou can just take it back instead of sending it back and forth and stuff. My lessons are 70 dollars a week and I go 30 minutes every tuesday. It’s a short time but i love going soo its reallyy worth it. If you’re interested in electric though look up orianthi shes a girl that plays and steve vai and slash and carlos santan ( he plays both) and im sure ou know taylor swift so hope this helps even though its really long.
the best lessons are at http://guitarmanual.typepad.com
honestly, you would never regret learning guitar, its one of the best things ive ever done. acoustic is harder on the fingers but it prepares them better and builds you up for the speed needed for electric guitar although its completely up to you cause you will learn alot of the basics either way. what i highly recommend is the courses on offer here http://learning-a-guitar.com
i used the main course when i was starting out and over 2 years on still helps me even though im deffinately not a beginner anymore.
Highly recommend to anyone, hope it helps you
