you should start with professional lessons and see if you like playing and if you have an aptitude for it. you can always buy a used guitar
No.
One can never have too much amplification.Share your progress with everyone around you; family, friends, neighbors.
Its ok to cheap out on the actual guitar but one can NEVER spend too much on amps!
Rule of thumb: the more watts the better!
Also, it’s best to choose a guitar based solely on its appearance.
Great to hear it! The electric is much easier to play than the acoustic because it requires less finger strength but the acoustic so awesome to learn b/c then you can take your guitar anywhere!
Check out this girl named Orianthi. She’s awesome: http://new.music.yahoo.com/programs/the-new-now/1983/orianthi-michael-jacksons-guitar-thriller
Hello there,
You answered your own question. You said you want to learn to play an electric guitar, so that is what you should start with. Basically, both play the same. You can learn on either. It takes work (practice) to learn to play and it is easier to put in that work if you are playing what you want. Therefore, get an electric guitar.
As for buying a guitar, I suggest you buy a used one. You can buy a used better quality guitar for about the same price as a new lesser quality guitar. You get more bang for your buck.
If you do not have a particular guitar in mind, take a look at the Les Paul (by either Epiphone or Maestro) or a Stratocaster (by Squier). Those are good beginner instruments.
Also, I am posting a link to a video lesson at Youtube. This is the first in a series of 12 lessons. I think this guy is a good teacher and you can learn a lot from him. The problem with learning from a friend is that even if your friend is a good player, he may not be a good teacher. Lots of great guitar players are lousy teachers. You can still have your friend give you lessons. But, I suggest you also study from these video lessons.

Later,
you hould get an acoustic first because it will help your fingers become strong so when you play electric your fingers will have to trouble. and also acoustics are easier to carry around since you don’t need many things with an acoustic guitar.
no i started and always will only play electric lol
it doesnt matter what u start with, they both sounds great,
