BLUES!!!!!!!!
all technique no soul…
@schrik39
Not true it depends how you use it listen to marty friedmans stuff if uses some time but hes alot of soul and emotion and still uses sweep not that much but he does use they ever once in a while my point it is how you use it.
@clwnz777 Perhaps you should listen to Altitudes by Jason Becker or Riders by Rusty Cooley if you have lost interest in sweeping…
fuck! thats a gay sweep
@schrik39 you have no clue what soul is so stfu
sounds like a cellphone ring tone
@futebalmakedonia
actually you have it wrong its:
“A big-legged woman ain’t got no soul. ”
but I will excuse your ignorance…
ps been playing the electric guitar for 40 years, and prefer an emotional guitar response rather than a cognitive cellphone ring(good one dietgrape)
@schrik39- Then watch his other videos you fool, he’s a blues guitarist! And calling a simple guitar skill “all technique and no skill” is not only ignorant but foolish. Why should something skillful be soulless? sweep picking doesn’t suck soul out of music, the person PLAYING determines the soul of the music. It’s people like you that complain about complex technique because you can’t do it. I once heard someone complain about theory because “it makes the music soulless man!” Utter shit.
sweep picking is just one of those techniques where the spacing between each note determines whether it has soul or not. now however that may sound stupid in general cause that applies for every technique or note choice, but sweep picking is one that really needs to be watched cause to much of it can be very boring and repetative no matter what inversions you switch to or how your applying each arpeggio inversion to the chord thats being played.
when improvising i like to build up to a point to where the tension of the solo needs to be topped off with some fast licks and intensity but while keeping in musical. you should hear everything before you play it and if you hear sweep picking then do it.try to think like a singer or a sax player.
the reason being for a singer is that if u cant sing or hear what your playing then why are you playing it? so id say learn the technique to an extent to wear you can hear what arpeggio or any line in general and apply it musically contantly. never sacrifice music for technique its abt content
@young0wylde0child constantly*
@MrCptGonzo dude for me its the exact opposite! XD i can sweep all over the fretboard on jacksons, ibanez, gibson whatever, but the minute i set down and try and sweep a strat it sounds like a train crashing! (even though all my sweeps end up sounding like that more or less… the other guitars are a SLIGHT improvement…)
just as any other technique, it gets boring if over used, that’s why you have to learn lots of styles to freshen up your playing
How can sweet picking be “overused”??? That’s like saying power chords are overused… shut the hell up you dumb asses who care about “emotion” in your music… Shredding ’till we die.
@ChaosHero17 your’e a fucking moron
@am5395 Hmm. Fuck you.
@ChaosHero17 power chords can be over used. emotion is key to music, as although music is subjective a key element is creativity (which is fueld by emotion). shredding is great! but its even better when played correctly.
@am5395 Agreed
this is the worst sweep picking who want to learn that
its about making music, not about which techniques are “overused” or “underused”.
you should whatever it takes to get the music in your mind out
I’ve been playing 8 months total as far as playing and actually learning. I haven’t picked up one really since before. But check my vids out… I’m still learning as I said Haven’t played as long, but damn. Those are pretty cool to me. Is it all just just hammer ons and pull offs cept a few picks???
@clwnz777 Same here man.
bad
