Difficulty choosing between guitar and bass?

My birthday is coming up and two weeks ago I told my mother that I wanted an electric bass for my birthday because I always wanted to learn to play and I love her but I was thinking Haing seconds. Everybody says why do play bass? Everyone says that the guitar is better. In fact, I think about it and now I can not decide what I want. I like the bass because I find it interesting and it sounds great, but I also like the guitar because you can play anywhere and has a real melody to it. The only reason I'm a little unsure about the guitar, because I think it could be terrible, because the agreements is more difficult and my fingers are small. Please help me choose! Who do you like best and why please. PS I'm choosing between an electric bass or because the acoustic guitar and electric guitar I have at home, but having sound experience would be easier if that's what I want. Thanks!

I played bass for many years because I love the bass and rhythm. The only problem is that the bass is a basic tool, and receives no respect the guitar is an instrument before. I've always had trouble with the chords too. And I hate when people say the guitar is better or that someone switched to bass and it's easy. I like to see them play like Geddy Lee. ego maniacs like the guitar, people who love music as the bass.
