Learn to play acoustic guitar

The acoustic guitar is a popular tool among all age groups and is very rewarding to learn to play, even if not you lose time with cool electric guitar sounds. So let's look at the technique to learn as an acoustic guitar player and some legendary guitarists whose work will have to learn to hang out with other acoustic guitarists.

You can think of acoustic guitar technique in two ways: it can be a selector or Strummer. A Strummer plays dragging the thumb, index, or pick the strings of the guitar. You can find a multitude of ways to zero on the Internet. Start with the simplest you can find. Some strumming patterns simply show the names of the chords that are supposed to scratch, and others show that you understand that the channels selected. The strings that are not included can be damped with the little finger of his left hand or the palm of his right hand.

You can get the use of a plectrum - This technique is called flatpicking - or use your fingers. If you decide that you can use fingerpicking peaks have played but after a little experience playing guitar, you can make the decision based on the type of sound you want.

An easy start fingerpicking finger is a minor chord and place your fingers on the strings intends to play. Do not try to make any selection, just decide what are the chords to play in this string and place your fingers picking the right one "position" ready to play. Therefore, for the chord of E minor You can place your thumb on the sixth string and the index finger the third string, the second finger on the second string and index finger on the first string. Now pluck the string with your thumb and finger pulling.

If you want to see what to do if you promote your dedication to acoustic guitar, Leo Kottke is a good start. He is a fingerstyle acoustic guitarist who is innovating strongly influenced by folk, jazz and blues. Another great Tommy Emmanuel, an Atkins.

"Travis Picking" is a finger pick style, which involves playing bass with thumb and melody first two or three fingers simultaneously. This Renaissance style was developed by Merle Travis, country music singer and songwriter who composed a song successful, fifty years, "Sixteen Tons." While we are talking about travis picking, you may have heard of Chet Atkins. Influential guitarist Nashville and record producer for many famous artists. He played the electric guitar and, especially, his collection was inspired by the most technical Merle Travis with musical influences from Django Reinhardt and Les Paul.

For the acoustic guitar player opts to stay with plectrumn, "Doc" Watson is one of bluegrass, folk, country, blues and gospel and guitarist. He is revered by other guitarists of his style fingerpicking flatpicking but not surprising.

The repertoire acoustic guitar today owes much to the folk revival of the sixties. Here are some of the names of this period, whose work must be updated:

John Renbourn English guitarist and composer is best known for his work with fellow guitarist Bert Jansch and his career with the English folk group Pentangle. interests Renbourn music include early music, folk, classical and blues.

Bert Jansch is a Scottish folk musician whose influences include English guitarist Davy Graham. His music has influenced Jimmy Page, Ian Anderson, Donovan and Neil Young.

John Martyn is an English guitarist who sings and writes songs. He study twenty albums and worked with the famous musician, a guitarist who is very much in the English folk scene in the sixties. Many players of acoustic guitar as Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Martin Carthy and Jimmy Page. His acoustic instrumental piece, Anji was recorded by Paul Simon on an early Simon & Garfunkel album.
