How to Bend Wood

Bending wood is not the daunting task that seems at first sight. Depending on the degree of curvature, and if so or not is made by the curvature, there are some methods for bending wood.

First, you must have a wooden form around the bend and clamp thedesired to take shape. Most of curved wood that have some degree of "elasticity", so you should build your form with this assignment. away from the fast-setting epoxy, however, because it is rare to harden to the extent where games are slow. If you use light colored wood, hair a reddish color to resorcinol which might raise objections to a finished project.

When bending thin wood as on the sides of the guitar, the wood is often soaked as above, but is considered an indicator of folding or electricity, or heated with a propane torch. brittle wood supported outside of the curve with a thin strip of stainless steel to prevent cracking.

Green wood can be bent almost in the same way, or by heating over wood embers or a hot air gun well.

For projects where the stratification is incorrect, or when the wood should be bent in compound curves, The steam box is the answer. It can be quite inexpensive, PVC pipes, but must be sustained to maintain the tube deformation.

Ends tubes should be sealed with a screw cap, at least at one end, to allow access to the interior. Fit the other end of the tube with a reduced starting DWV and attach a radiator hose for output side and a new gas can be sufficient to contain enough water through employment. Water can be heated with a hot iron or a propane burner.
