1. Yes its totally worth it!
2.I guess you coouuld learn a couple songs first, but it would be better if you got the basics down first.
3. It depends what song. I would say that after maybe five or six months (or maybe even less!) youl be able to play basic songs with relatively easy chords very well, but then getting to the next level and playing hard runs and more difficult chord changes could take longer.
It all depends on how much your willing to put into it and practice.
Its totally worth it, i hope you do learn how to play guitar.

Yes, absolutely its worth it !
Its definitely possible to learn to play songs at the same time you learn the basics. In my opinion, the best way to learn to play is by learning to play songs. The whole reason for learning to play is to enjoy yourself. If you focus on learning scales, and technique, you won’t have a lot of fun. You can learn the technique, fingering for chords, strumming patterns, and scales as you go.
The length of time it takes to learn to play well varies from person to person. But, you can learn to accompany your own singing within a month if you practice daily. Get a book of songs that you like with the chord fingerings shown above the words. That will get you started.
Oh, and there are all sorts of demonstration videos posted on Youtube.
To learn faster, find a teacher who is willing to teach you songs and help you with your technique as you go. Its really a blast, You’ll have a ball. Good luck
