I started playing on the electric guitar when I was 15. I never touched an acoustic (regular guitar as you called it) until I was 17 and I ended up playing professionally for many years touring and playing on studio albums for some big time artists. So, I would say pick up the electric guitar and go for it!

I started on an electric guitar at 15 and i picked it up well
It’s never too late to learn how to play a musical instrument.
I learned the electric before I bought my first acoustic. I personally think electric is easier to learn/play because of the string-action on the neck. I recommend learning the guitar
Good luck, and have fun!
It’s never too late to start. I’m 15 and have been playing since I was 7! I also have friends that are jest now learning. I started play on electric but I guess you could do either. Just make sure you have a good teacher to teach you techniques and basic stuff. It is fun and you won’t regret it.
You might want to start on the regular because if you don’t like it, there a lot cheaper and once you learn it get a electric Guitar.
